Sports Illustrated/Associated Press Bill Simmons, ESPN’s chief executive, and ESPN President John Skipper will host a special edition of the podcast “The Bill Simmons Podcast” to discuss how to create and manage a successful business in the new media era, and the importance of managing expectations.
The episode will include a conversation about the need to “keep expectations low” in a media environment that has a “buzzing pace,” and the ways in which people need to keep expectations low.
It will also address the importance and impact of social media, as well as the importance that sports organizations place on their audiences and the role that their social media accounts play in this environment.
Listeners will also learn how the new social media platform is impacting the way the world thinks about sports, the challenges of keeping audiences engaged, and how to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to digital marketing.
“As a business, we’re all trying to figure out how do we keep expectations down and not become complacent,” Skipper said in a statement.
“That is something that I’ve been trying to instill in everyone, as a team and a company, to make sure we don’t get complacent.”
Simmons, who was hired by ESPN in November to join a multi-year contract, will join the podcast from ESPN Radio.
Skipper and Simmons will discuss their roles in the sports world and how they’ll shape it in the future.
